SPECIALIZING TEACHING SAFE INTRODUCTION to CAVE DIVING

“CAVE DIVER I COURSES”

This sensible and wisest approach to become a safe, competent and comfortable cave diver is the four day safe Introduction to Cave Diving (Cave Diver I – NAUI, NACD, PSAI or TDI) course, which includes the Cavern Diver training and certification. The training will include a minimum 10 cave dives based on the 1/6 gas rule using at least 5 different cave systems. Topic presentations and discussions will be held at the AQUANUATS Dive Store in Puerto Aventuras. They are: What is safe cavern & cave diving, The Cave Environment, Safety Principles, Stress & Attitude, Communication & Planning, Equipment & Configuration, Reels, Guidelines & protocol, Swimming & buoyancy, Emergencies, and Protecting the Dive Site. Skills and training exercises will include: Swimming & finning techniques, trim, hovering, weight distribution, safety drill, running the reel, tie-offs, lost line, lost diver, touch-contact/share gas, gas valve shut downs/switching regulators, line entanglements, light failures and swimming a minimum 60 feet/18 meters without your gas. The final exam will be presented the afternoon of the last day of training.

      Once the course is successfully completed with competent skills, you can continue (your choice) with guided cave dives with Steve for one, two, three or as many days you wish (guiding and equipment fees extra).

      This Introduction to Cave Diving (NAUI Cave Diver I, NACD, PSAI or TDI) training certification course is the halfway point towards becoming a fully certified and competent qualified cave diver (NAUI Cave Diver II, NACD, PSAI or TDI). Experience is the best teacher.

The training course includes:


• Double 80 cu. ft. aluminum tanks with dual outlet manifold.
• BCD wings.
• Stainless steel back plate.
• 7 foot low pressure hose.
• Reels/spools.
• 10 watt HID primary light.
• Oxygen 40 cu. ft. cylinder with 02 compatible regulator.
• Dive site fees. Example: Cenote Dos Ojos is 100 pesos ($10.00).
• Certification fee. Choice of NAUI, NACD, PSAI or TDI.
• Transportation to dive sites.
• Steve’s 30+ years of teaching experience

Pre-requisite: Advanced open water or higher training certification(s).

Steve will be conducting cave dives at Dos Ojos, Taj Mahal, Sac Aktun, PonDerosa, Chac Mool, Tortuga, Mayan Blue, Carwash, Vaca Ha, Camilo, Chan Hol and many more.
